Activities
Spoon University: a club promoting and teaching healthy food choices. Offering workshops and opportunities in photography, videography, and social media marketing. I was also able to assist in creating a cookbook
Art Club: is a creative community that enables non-art and art students to come together and explore the visual arts.
(CB) Community Bridges: Empowering and supporting the growth of girls from diverse backgrounds to be successful students and leaders in their communities.
CB Acted as photographer for CB’s Mentorship event and Valentine’s Day dance.
Catylator Makerspace Painted a puzzle from reclaimed wood that was donated to the Children’s National Medical Center.

Responsibilities include organizing space, managing laser cutter, Vinyl cutter, and 3D printers. Implementing Corel Draw and Tinkercad software. I also supervised clients ages 13+ through the design process.

Artist Statement
In my work, I explore color, texture, and mark making. I achieve this by the use of a palette knife or a fine paint brush. My work can either be connected to an emotion or a personal experience. When it comes to photography, I concentrate on lighting, focus, and composition.
Artist Bio
About Emily Garcia
Emily Garcia was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. In 2020, she graduated from Montgomery College with an Associates degree in Fine Arts. She is currently double majoring in studio art and art education at the University of Maryland-College Park. Her work explores color, texture, and mark making. She has worked with clubs to design a cookbook, awards, logo, and act as a photographer. During the summer, she worked at Catylator Makerspace implementing Corel Draw and Tinkercad software. She supervised clients ages 13+ through the design process while managing the laser cutter, vinyl cutter, and 3D printers. Lastly, Emily’s work was exhibited at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockville for the ArtsConnect event (BeHoldHERStory). Emily has also worked with and volunteered for Community Bridges (CB), a program empowering and supporting girls from diverse backgrounds to be successful students and leaders. For CB’s Fundraiser, she was commissioned to design the awards. At the University of Maryland-College Park, Emily joined a club called Spoon University. Here, she assisted in designing a cookbook. Lastly, CB has asked Emily to act as a photographer for the Mentorship event and Valentine’s day dance.
